Tamil Duet Songs Tag!!

Since this is about duet songs, I have chosen real duets, that is, songs that have both male and female voices in it. There is a huge list but these are best among the best.

There is no top 10 rating for them, so just sorted them in alphabetical order.

* Ale Ale - Boys

This song captured my senses in first listen itself. "Ale Ale" was a catchy phrase and the rest of the lyrics that speak about the effect of love were simply beautiful. Karthik and Chithra Shivaraman give a lot of life to this song tuned by maestro Rahman. The onscreen picturisation had frozen shots for first time in Tamil cinema, beautifully and grandly shot. May be that’s why my heart freezes every time I listen to this.

* Kangal Irandaal - Subramaniyapuram

The chartbuster of 2008 in voices of Belly Raj and Deepa Mariam, which marked the debut of James Vasanthan as music director. The mellifluous song with carnatic touches was an instant heart grabber for me and I am proud to be one of the first fans of this song(I had set it as caller tune the day I listened to it, when many people were not even aware of it) Yet another song about effects of love :)

* Kannukkul Yeadho - Thiruvilayadal Arambam

I don't know what is so great about this song, but every time I listen to it, I feel so happy and contented. Ever since Revathy sang "Idhuthaan kaadhal enbadha" in pudhiya mugam, everyone is trying to find out what love actually is. And this is yet another song that goes in the way of “kanne soll idhu thaan kaadhal enbadha". The main strength of the song is the melodious voice of Vijay Yesudas with support from Rita's vocals and D.Imman’s music

* Mellisaye - Mr.Romeo

The moment Swarnalatha starts her humming, I would start flying and till the same humming comes at the end I would be simply out of this world. One song that is close to my heart and my all time favorite. Tuned by the one and only Rahman, and sung by Unni Menon, Sujatha, Srinivas, Swarnalatha (at her best)... It can't get lovelier than this!

* Mudhal mazhai - Bheema

Harris Jayaraj has this unique talent of using catchy harmony for most of his songs. This one song in that trend, of course with beautiful lyrics too. The song is tunes so well that it gives you a feel of getting wet in first rain every time you listen to it. Evergreen Hariharan at what he does best-melody and Mahathi as his soulful companion take the song to greater heights.

* Munbe Vaa - Sillunu Oru kaadhal

A popular belief is that people who drench gods in honey during their daily pooja would be blessed with a voice like honey in next birth. Shreya Ghosal is one such singer, who can make fresh honey flow in your ears through music. Yet another beautiful composition from Rahman, lyrics full of love and emotions by Vaali, it is one of the best romantic melodies of Tamil Cinema. Naresh Iyer's sweet voice is yet another icing on the cake.

* Nee kaatru - Nilaave Vaa

One of the best numbers from Vijay's romantic era of late 90's. Golden lyrics from Vairamuthu that makes an exhaustive comparison of He and She to anything and everything around us. Divine music by Vidhyasagar that keeps lingering in ears whenever you think of this song. Brilliantly rendered by Hariharan and Chitra, it is a song that describes the divine form of love.

* Perunthil Nee - Pori

Yet another song that stole my heart just by lyrics. Penned by Vairamuthu again, this describes in th best way what He means for She and vice versa. And the lyricist has promptly chosen the best of everything to describe this. One of the rare compositions from the otherwise junkyard of Dheena, this song is given life by Madhu Balakrishnan and Madhushree, inspite of the latter murering the beautifully written Tamil words.

* Pudhu vellai mazhai - Roja

This is one song which no one can dislike forever. An evergreen melody from Rahman which made Sujatha and Unni Menon known to us. Think of Roja and this song, if you close your eyes, you can feel Kashmir in a moment. Such excellent feel lies in this song which (no matter if others say it is a lift off from any international number) soothes your senses like nothing else.

* Suttum Vizhi - Ghajini

People can forget Ghajini after a decade but definitely not this song. Bombay Jayashree and Sriram Parthasarathy at one of their career bests put to tune by Harris Jayaraj and written by Na. Muthukumar(if I am not wrong) beautifully written, tuned, rendered, picturised and edited, it is one of those landmark songs of Tamil Cinema.

The Links Tag

Thanks to Nirmal for this tag specially, as it made me go through my old posts after a long time :D Here I have to link some of my old posts based on the following keywords:

Family:

I have posted quite a few things about them here and there. My first post was when i spoke about My Influences in life. I don't believe in getting inspired or influenced by public figure, because you lose your originality when you are inspired by someone out of your own circle and make them your role model. I strongly beleive that we have role models(atleast one) within our own families and following them is more appropriate. Another memorable post was about my father's sister(my athai) whom I miss so much even today. She was A Legend in her own rights!

My Influences
A Legend's History

Friends:

I haven't posted much on friends because they were always around when I needed them, so there wasn't much of "missing" kind of thing. And though I have a lot of sweet memories from college and after that with my friends, I haven't actually shared any of it here, because half of the posts went in talking about me and my problems :D

Still I managed to see two posts, posted out of overflow of sentiments, specially the one which I posted after watching Ullam Ketkume.

Ullam Ketkume more
Dedicated to Friendship

Myself:

This blog was more or less an I,Me,Myself, that there are too many posts in this category. My very first post after the intro, and two more after that were themed on this, and I spoke almost everything about me there. Apart from that nonsense, a few memorable ones are:

My Childhood Days
Nicknames
Home Bird
My Nightmares

My Love:

I had one post about my first love. She is beautiful, hot and sexy. My own Chennai city :D

My First Love

Apart from this, I made a few scribblings about my favorite celluloid love stories in below links:

May Maadham
Sachein
Bommarillu

Anything I like:

A lots were written about my favorites. Some significant ones, that exist even today and would be there even in future as as below:

Trains : Train is an object of fascination for me even today. Even when I was in US, I had a train journey atleast once :)

Blue : Still I am filling my wardrobe with blue and the journey continues.

Vijay : Nothing could stop my admiration for him, however worst his movies or criticized or fare in box office. I could not get any hero in my mind and heart apart from him. ;-) I should say that now I like 10 times more than what I did when I wrote this blog post. :D :D

It was such a wonderful experience going thorough all those pages of blah blahs after a long time. I was a blabberer by birth I guess :D Phew, written yet another big story now :D

The Fourth Quarter...

Last "urupadiyaana" post from me was in October 1st week. While I see my friends who are blogghave moved ahead with festivals Deepavali, Karthigai, New Year and Pongal and incidents like Mumbai Blasts, Satyam debacle etc. I am still lagging a week behind my birthday last year.

Back after a long time, I decided to clear off arrears first :D

The tags that were given by Nirmal long back; I am managing to complete them now in next two posts. :) Before that a recap of the "quarter" that went by.

This year saw one of my most eventless birthdays as I bunked office and took rest at home receiving fewer than normal amount of calls. People finally have a job :)

Ever since that day, life has been buzzing with so much activity that I have no time to sit and write a single proper blog post in months.

Very next day after my birthday, got awarded "Maestro" officially for some good work in my project, which as usual was received by my manager on my behalf. I stayed off the team outing that day aware of the boring events that will be conducted and unaware of this award.

End of October I got results of my official assessment, something which screwed me up for 5 hrs like no other exam in my life. Phew, finally I had to admit that I do know Java basics, having cleared this exam by some strange miracle. That soon paved way for my promotion and I moved to next level in my stream. One big achievement after 4 years of work.

November's Diwali was again dull compared to previous years, with not even Thalaivar's film getting released. :( End of November was my cousin’s marriage which happened in Cuddalore. I was curious to visit the place and even Pondicherry, close to it, but heavy rains that lashed Tamilnadu that time spoiled all my plans. It was just another “go there-attend marriage-come back” trip. :'(

Talking about rains, Chennai was screwed up like anything by Nisha, with yet another year of water mismanagement showing its teeth off. And employees of "kadamai-ganniyam-kattupaadu" companies like mine, who won't drop employees home ahead of scheduled time, had to suffer a lot to reach home on that cursed day, when there was a jam right from Gemini flyover till Saidapet, proceeding towards Velacherry.
While Mumbai blasts and the following terrorists attacks has yet again shown the worst face of our neighbors and inefficacy of the nation's rulers, corporate industry saw its worst phase with more bankruptcy and ramp downs Satyam taking a shocking top spot. I would not want to write any more on this, as anything is uncertain for all corporates in today’s scenario and every one is keeping hands crossed for the good thing to happen soon.

December's biggest happening was my trip to Hyderabad in the month end, which left a lot of memorable imprints in my mind. The world class laser show and boating to Buddha Statue at Lumbini Park, the Prasad's IMAX and the Ramoji film city are some legacies left behind by Naidu gaaru’s regime.
Ramoji film city in particular has been part and parcel of most Tamil and Telugu films, even those of superstars. You can easily call it as Hollywood of India, since everything you experience there is available here at prices affordable for everyone. One day is not just enough to roam around the place. It’s an ecstasy to be experienced by everyone, words cannot express it. And kudos to the management who are maintaining it professionally so well, mainly keeping the place clean and tidy inspite of the crowd visiting everyday.
One more exciting thing about Hyderabad is its new domestic and international airport that has come up at Shamshabad. Lying very much out of the city, its really another wonder in the hitech city. The moment you enter the airport limits, you would be in another world, and it takes 7 kms to reach the airport from that limit. All along the way you can see the efforts taken to make it look like no less than a city in US.

Airport is stunningly huge, taking inputs from San Francisco, Hong Kong and many other international airports. I was just in visitors lobby to receive my uncle, hopefully would get to see the complete airport in its interiors soon. And after Bangalore and Hyderabad, Chennai should definitely do something about its international airport atleast, since it has become more or less like Central Railway station now.

New year 2009 has started with new hopes and expectations, and hope this year brings lots of happiness and good health to everyone in the world. We started off with a full working day which we happily spent in planning and then execution of an adhoc team outing. It was lots of fun and enjoyment after a long time since college days, and it went on well inspite of a screwed up planning and unpleasant surprises along way.
Last but no the least, Slumdog Millionaire is one of the best things to happen ever since the invention of celluloid, as it has lot of India to it. Morons somewhere have already started protests terming the film as rational for some scenes while some pseudo patriots feel that the film insults India. As if the Murders, Ek Choti Si Love stories, Om Shanti Oms and other world level craps made in India have glorified the image of India on world stage!
This is a brilliant film that connects with you so well that you cannot hold yourself emotionally in many scenes. With golden globes becoming reality and Oscars not too far, you cannot feel anything but happy for the Indian talent that has made this film possible. JAI HO!
