Typical Tamil Mega Serial :P

Dedicated to all poor souls who endure Sun TV mega serial tortures at home :D

A marriage is happening in a hall. The arrangements for marriage would have been done in past 10-15 episodes out of which 5 episodes would have been in marriage hall itself. Now before thaali kattifying one person (mostly a lady) comes and stops the marriage.(The lady coming to marriage hall would have been shown for 10 mins earlier)

Thoughtless Thoughts....

It’s been months since I made a solid and original post here which is non-filmi. Thoughts are locked in a heavy box and still searching for the key. Shaking the box had a few them spilling out and here they are....

• Airtel barred my outgoing calls few days back. Calling customer care on 121 said my outgoing has been barred for non-payment. Surprised at this (my ECS payment was already taken for the month) I called up customer care from landline. Then I learnt the real reason. My team mate had lost her mobile and to call customer care she used my mobile in the morning. After asking her for all details that is as good as getting her whole bio data, the "extra intelligent" customer care representative had barred calls for my number instead of hers. Then what? After some nice talks, they had to activate my outgoing in an hour...

• The greatest entertainment channel Doordarshan Chennai aka Podhigai, after its innovative ideas like solo teacher teaching in an empty classroom, music band of bunch of school kids with kitchen wares as instruments, cooking competition where the cooked dish occupies screen background... uff... let me stop... Has come up with new idea of a Quiz show for housewives(or house paatis) called "Aasai Dosai". The team names are Onion Rava, Special Saadha and Masala :O The show is more like maamis arattai in veetu thinnai on an afternoon with no professionalism. No editing nothing. Paricipants talk haphazardly to the host and between themselves after answering the "questions"(!!!) Couldn't bear for even 5 minutes so channel shift :P

• This dance show called Maanada Mayilada in Kalignar TV is good. I watch a whole bunch of "reality" dance shows like Jodi No. 1, Aatam paatam, Chak De Bache, Yeh Hai Jalwa etc. just because I love watching people dance. But this show is something different, in the sense, the choreography and sets are really good and most participants are good dancers rather than popular TV stars. Also there is no tear jerking emotional scenes or fights between participants and judges followed by a suya puraanam singing by the judge. The show is purely for dance, dance and nothing else. 2 and half hours a week seems like too much with almost an hour gone in ads, but the show is worth a watch.

• Traveling in Chennai buses has become more of a comfortable experience than a painful torture as it was before. With lots of new buses (still the green color devils are roaming for shorter routes) and routes covering whole length and breadth of Chennai, traveling has become faster and easier. And paying more charge in deluxe buses has at least the benefit of a courteous conductor, even though you don't get a seat. :P Still waiting for a chance to try out the AC buses zooming across Mount Road.

The Great Indian Karadi Interview

Thanks to my friend Tejus who gave me the link of one of the most hilarious videos on the earth. Its none other than the Great Indian Karadi T.Rajendar who speaks or rather shouts out his opinions in an interview to Indiaglitz. The questions are also put through in such a way to extract the standard comedies from the Karadi.

As the video was downloading, I took a few screenshots that shows Karadi going thorugh variety of constipated emotions as shown in the stills below. Have fun watching the video in this link:

The worstest shows on FM

Being a regular listener to FM shows these days(or rather a victim of those) I thought of listing out few shows that are irritatingly worst, so that new listeners can avoid those yucky things.

Appeeta Repeeta
The top slot goes to the government channel anyhow, with its most stupidest show that to early in the morning at 8 AM. Titled as above it carries on air the most annoying so-called fun games, that would put you off very easily. An example… A caller calls in. He says 1… The RJ(yuck.. that host is an insult for this term) says 2… Caller 3.. RJ 4… Now the caller should say Appeeta Repeeta it seems… Same way for 10, 15 and so on… I felt like puking… What a worst creativity!!! Government channels are losing listenership just because of these kiddish games!!!

Kisu Kisu Geetha
Uwaacckkk… What an odd name!!! This show in Suryan FM has two bull shits hosting it, with one of them supposedly speaking in a Brahmin slang. Their goal is to provide movie gossips for the listeners apart from irritating them with an awkward voice and slang. The way they talk simply leaves you asking for headache pills.

Kittu Maama Susi Maami
Yuck again… Yet another show with hosts taking in a ridiculous Brahmin slang non-stop speaking out all non-sense. And the extra threat is that the Kisu Kisu Geetha maami makes a special appearance here every now and then. Totally horrible show that will leave you in a miserable state!!!

Hello Suryan FM
Third worst show of Suryan FM, with a moron naming himself Funky Shankar speaking in a wannabe-American style, trying to crack jokes and sound funny and entertain people. Unfortunately, he is a total failure in all these departments and you keep praying for the songs to be on air soon so that this moron gets out for some time. And if you want to listen to your most favorite songs spoiled in the most worstest way in the name of Remix, then you can listen to this show.

SBSB
A crap show from the new station in town, Radio City. Carrying a ridiculous title of Silmisha Baarbaje Shikarika Bilba and hosted by a boring guy calling himself “Unga friend-u RJ Nandu” nothing more can be explained about how worse the show is. Only solace compared to others is that there is less talk and more music.

And could any one teach these so-called RJs on how to speak?? Trying to be cool, they speak in the most irritating manner that sometimes even sounds like they are drunk. Especially the stupid ladies screaming “wannaasavanpoinwannfm”(107.1 FM) in FM Rainbow. In a city with channels like Radio Mrichi and its cool RJs, these people are an insult to the RJ community!!!

Channel Woes - Part 2

Film reviews and countdowns are the worst ones; the rating is purely based on whether the actor is a favorite of the channel or in worst case their political party. And how much money exchanges have happened between the producer of the film and the channel in terms of satellite rights.

There are many cases where a good film went unnoticed or trashed by people because of Sun TV’s influence.(Of course there are a few exceptions like Sethu). While channels like Vijay TV provide ratings on the basis of box-office and people’s opinion very few understand the genuinity of such countdowns!!!

When there is so much monopoly in terms of Television network, this group has not spared the FM space also. With Suriyan FM providing the lowest class of entertainment throughout the day there is very less one could boast of it as a private FM channel. Getting the reach was not difficult, thanks to the powerful Sun TV.

It is a real pain to the ears sitting in the office bus listening to utter craps like Kisu Kisu Geetha, Kittu Maama-Susi Maami and many other shows that are aired throughout the day. While Radio Mirchi the other private FM has a sky level difference compared to Suriyan FM in all aspects and has a great quality in its shows, it has never been able to achieve what the stupid Suriyan FM did.

With a majority of TamilNadu population accessing mass media listening and seeing only such craps, the mindset of people will soon run towards crappy attitudes for sure… Isn’t there a dawn for this darkness of Sun?? :-(

Channel Woes - Part 1

The power of media and how much influence it would have on the minds of people can be understood from the effect of Sun Network on the people of TamilNadu. While it has been successful in starting a host of stupid channels through political and financial influences, it has totally changed the mindset of a huge chunk of population in TamilNadu.

Sun TV, which was started way back in early 90’s was a fantasy to the people of TamilNadu who were used to watching stereotype and boring programmes in Doordarshan. The presentation, X-factor, star attractions etc etc everything was in its favour and soon Sun TV became one of the most wanted channels in Cable Networks, especially for those abroad, who were longing for a full time Tamil Channel to watch.

Using this single factor, Sun TV grew like a monster. A monster that swallowed every other Tamil channel’s viewership on the Cable Network. And soon we saw the expansion of Sun Network into Andhra(Gemini, Teja), Kerala(Surya) and Karnataka(Udaya, Ushe). Thus Sun Newtwork occupied almost whole of South India through political and financial influences as mentioned before.

With such an expanded network, soon it began the act of reducing the intellectual quotient of people to almost zero. Through mega serials, almost every other female in TamilNadu was made an addict that too through a stupid way of exploiting their emotional sensitivity. The long list of serials that hog the TV sets from forenoon till late night is all nothing but stupidity to the core.

And the meaning of festival days has been changed for a long time as Cinema Specials. Nothing else but shows related to Cinema and Cine actors will be shown on those days. The flavour and variety with the programs of Doordarshan is surely missing, only thing is Government channels never had the expertise to present them in the right way.

The only programs where people could gather some information like News bulletins and the ones related to film analysis like reviews and countdown shows are out and out biased. The worst thing is that with the kind of effect it had created on people, they simply believe whatever Sun TV says is the truth. So the original facts can never be understood until you read it in a newspaper or web bulletin. These days there is a huge competition in providing biased news very efficiently on par with another political channel Jaya TV.

To be continued...

Beauty with Brains

There is a show called Heartbeats on Star One. It is just a game show, but the difference between this one and numerous others running on TV is that, here it is not time that matters, but the cool temperament and presence of mind of the player that is more important to win. In other words, the formula of winning is very easier. The calmer the player is, the easier it is to win.

I was very excited to know that Priyanka Chopra, Former Miss World and Bollywood Actress participating in the game show. I like Priyanka Chopra not only as a model and actress but also personally after reading about her from magazines. She may not be the striking beauty as Aishwarya is, but as a woman, I feel she is much better than Aishwarya. I feel she is one of the living examples who can be projected to the world as an ideal Indian woman. J

Coming back to the show, Priyanka came in with dashing looks as usual and started taking questions with a cool and not-so-nervous attitude. Her heartbeat was almost within 90 per min throughout the show. I have seen women scream, shout, yell and do all sorts of non-sense in game shows, but Priyanka was calm but excited at the same time.

Question after question she used her lifelines wisely and nicely progressed on the money ladder. Many answers she knew on her own and the lifeline help was just a confirmation act. After reaching 7 lakhs and opting for cash question with a banked heartbeat count of over 2000, it was a easy task for her to win the cash. She laughed out loud on seeing first cash question asking “Which of these heroines were smooched by Emraan Hashmi on screen?”

Completing the final double money question on food items with her mother’s help and in her own style, the beauty took away 14 lakh rupees of cash from the show. And also the hearts of thousands of viewers... ;-) It was indeed a live demonstration to the world that beautiful women have great brains and more than that, she proved that a woman can stay with controlled emotions in any situation. Hats off Priyanka!!!

Mega Headaches...

Wanna kill time in the most useless way? Wanna forget your family? Wanna test if your tear glands are functioning properly? Then its time for u to watch mega headaches, oops, mega serials on your favourite channel.

How to drive your sister-in-law out of the house? How to plan for looting property from your father-in-law? How to take revenge on those who spoiled your family? How to deal with the illegal affairs of your wife/husband?? One point solution for all your queries, watch Mega Serials on TV.

As far as my knowledge, Junoon was the first mega serial on Indian Television. And at that time Doordarshan was the only entertainment for a considerable amount of population. So, "Paathanga TV-la ellarum andha serial-a thaan appo" :-D And it was much better than many of the soaps today.

When Doordarshan Chennai launched Vizhudhugal years back, the mega serial culture entered Tamil Nadu. Sun TV had adopted this concept(just like Star TV did in the north) and the rest is history. History that I wish had never happened!!! :P

Sun TV soaps have the knack of running a 15 min dialogue(5 mins of words with 10 mins of pauses in between) as a 30 min episode(with 5 mins of recap and 10 mins of ads). You get to see lot of yesteryear paapas turned into peepaas and the camera focussing their exploded faces in close-up shots... Good enough to be shown for scaring small kids as "poochaandis".. ;-) And men hardly get a chance to show their faces here. They are either villains or timid husbands.

Star Network is another extreme. Most times Star TV is Ekta TV with her mega serials occupying all prime slots. And she has not spared Sony and Zee networks either. Kkhyaaa, Kyoon, Kucch and so on, all Hindi words are given new English forms in titles, thanks to numerology. And there are two things that you should not expect from these soaps- Story and Logic. If u could bear without these you can really enjoy them.

And there are loads of women, in the size of truck loads and dressed like sofa sets who occupy the screen, literally in these soaps. If it is athai, marumagal, chithi, anni, amma etc in Tamil it is Baa, Bahu, Saasu maa, Baabhi etc in Hindi. And thanks to the service rendered by Star Vijay, very soon we may even get to see a national integration with all Hindi sofa sets speaking dubbed Tamil.

The worst part of the show is that, people forget the real names of actors. They are known only by their screen names. I have been reported of an bang-head incident in a village of South TamilNadu. A mega serial actress had visted the village for a shoot. She was allegedly torturing "Ahalya"- the Role Model of thousands of Kudumba Kuthuvlakkus in TN in some non-sense serial. For this, she was given a warning(??!!) by a group of village women, asking her not to indulge in such activities against her!!!

Long live the useless timepass of Tamilnadu housewives, long live their lost brains, long live Mega Serials and TV soaps!!! :-D

The Love Hexagon

I am not a fan of K.Balachander, but watch his movies and teleserials made by him. The reason is that they have a total golmaal of relationships and it always remains a suspense for me till the end as to who will pair with whom...:-)

Recently I was watching his serial "Idhu Oru Kaadhal Kadhai" in Vijay TV for a few days. The story line that I could derive till now, goes as below:

-> Janaki and Shakthi love each other
-> Parimala also loves Shakthi
-> Sudha is a friend of Shakthi
-> Ajay loves Sudha
-> Ananthu is in love with Janaki
-> Due to family circumstances, Janaki leaves Shakthi
-> Ananthu and Janaki are getting ready for marriage
-> Sudha is now in love with Shakthi..He reciprocates
-> Parimala wants to remove Sudha and Janaki from Shakthi's life
-> Selvam loves Parimala

and the story goes on.....

It is a hexagonal love story till now, but we cannot say, it may turn out into a heptagon or even more dimensional. Now what is left for me is to wait till the end :-D

But however it is, I feel its far better than Metti Oli's and Ketti Melam's.....;-)

Simply Messaging Shits (SMS)

"If u want me to stay in this competition, please SMS my name XYZ to 7575 or if u are calling from landline....."

The above message would soon enter into some Book of Records for being the only line to be repeated most number of times in the world. With the number of reality shows increasing everyday, I could hear this message in all channels now.

Earlier, only the likes of "Nathuram ke Pakode" and "Aalukka's jewellers" were occupying the bottom of the screens, that too only in local cable channels. But now, all channels have dedicated 25% of screen space for such stupid "SMS keejiye" requests...

If u turn down south, right from SS music to Sun Music, everyone has started tele messaging. "I love u", "XYZ is the best" "Call me at 9889765436"....All such things keep flashing like top headlines of today...

What remains as a mystery to me is where on the hell are such stupid people to stay idle and keep messaging for all these shits??? If I could find one such fellow doing this useless job, I will call him for sharing my job coz I have lotz of things to do :-D
