I am answering here 10 Frequently Asked Questions to me by various people I meet in day to day life. I can use this post atleast for my online friends, when they ask me these questions the next time ;-)
1. What is your actual name?
Almost everyone in my family have two names, one for home and one for official use. So officially I was named "Srinivasan" after my grandfather. But "Karthik" is the name christened by my mother right from my birth so I prefer to be called as Karthik. That’s why I declared myself as KSR in online profiles, so that Karthik gains prominence. People close to me call me Karthik, friends and colleagues call me "Srini" or "KSR".
2. Why on the earth "centumsrini"? Doesn’t that sound like a school kid?
"Centum" for me means the number 100. And 100 in my view denotes completeness, perfection and something at the fullest. Unfortunately the stupidity of marks-based Indian education associated centum with marks in the exams. This is the question I often face from people: “Have you scored any centum in ur acads?” I once again declare that centum is a motivation for me to give my 100% in whatever I do. That’s it.. (And my job as software engineer, made me add one more clause to it, 100% utilize the resources given to you :-D)
3. Why is your Orkut friends count so large? Are you mad to accept all requests?
Yes. I do accept all requests that come in. I don’t believe in the concept of getting acquainted to someone before adding them as a friend and I don’t have a heart to deny requests of people just because I don’t know them (unless it comes from some half naked Brazilian spam). If I had been doing that, I would have missed a lot of online friends I have today. World is huge, life is short, make as many friends as possible before you leave from here ;-)
4. What do you do on the weekends? What do you get by sitting at home?
I am one of the laziest persons in the world and I believe in the concept “Home is where the heaven is”. I am too lazy to go out especially in hot Chennai climate, I cherish my weekends eating mom’s food and sleeping at home.
5. You speak a lot on chat but when it comes to talking in person, u speak very less as if there is nothing left to say. Why is that so?
That’s my negative which I am trying to get over as much as possible. I have spent years of my life in solitude with no one to chat with. May be that has caused this problem. Hope it will be cured soon. :-)
6. Did you watch XYZ show on TV?
I don’t watch TV at all, even though my house has one. Tv shows today are at the heights of stupidity. Changing channels seeking better shows is like choosing between DMK and ADMK to vote for. I hardly watch TV for 10-15 minutes; especially with the CAS in Chennai, I feel even that 10-15 minutes is not worth spending in front of it.
7. Comon, are you crazy? How can one leave a place like Bangalore and come to Chennai? Is it possible that someone cannot like Bangalore?
Chennai is where I lived right from the day I set foot on this earth and I would like to stay here as much as possible in my lifetime. I haven’t had enough of this city till date and yet to explore a lot here. I had my job in Bangalore, stayed there, had a nice time. And when I felt its time to be back in Chennai, I came back. That’s it!!!! And Bangalore is no better than Chennai as everyone claims it to be. Every city has its own share of negatives.
8. Why don’t you exercise everyday and reduce your weight?
I partially answered for this in question 4. Yes I need to work upon this as early as possible before I become prone to any dreadful diseases. I should atleast continue my Yoga practice which I left abruptly after the classes got over.
9. How is your job going on?
To put it short and to be frank, it simply sucks. Because the software job sucks anyday. And my reply would have been the same whatever organization I am working for. I opted for Software job only for the sake of money and I even gave up all ideas of higher studies. That’s the only decision I regret for even today, but till I change over to an entirely different profession (which is not possible in near future) I would hang on to the principle “Work is Worship” :P
10. What is there to be a fan of Vijay? Are you stupid?
Throughout my life, I have liked what others around me dislike. In other words, my favorites had always been different from normal people. I like Sushmita more than Ash, Tennis more than Cricket, Ganguly more than Sachin, Trisha more than Asin, Vidhyasagar more than Rahman, Chennai more than Bangalore…. This also falls on similar lines. Anyways, I have no regrets of being a Vijay fan. From an ardent Vijay hater in late teens to an ardent fan today, it has been a great metamorphosis and I haven’t lost anything because of this. Infact, I had gained a lot of good friends online because of this trait.
And a final FAQ which I ask myself most times:
What is the purpose of writing this blog? You have written more than one hundred posts till date… Who is gonna read it anyway?? :-D
My inner self answers: “Atleast you get a place to vent out your thoughts and feelings. Tomorrow if someone wants to know about you completely, they can know you in and out reading this blog. And in the worst case also, 10 years down the line you can read through this for yourself and observe how much you have changed over with time” :-D

I was once okay with Vijay, but post ghilli, his self publicity, marketing, whatever people call it and his constant rajni copying has made me HATE him so much that I hate talking to people who are named Vijay!
