Bommarillu - Love Makes Life Beautiful
Once for all, all bad thoughts and assumptions about Telugu Cinema are erased from my mind today. Such pure and feel good films show the real face of Telugu Cinema which is often looked into through the mask of junk masala and violent films, I mean films that are violent on the audience :-D
The story revolves around three main characters. Siddu(Siddarth), his overprotective father(Prakashraj) and Haasini(Genelia). Prakashraj, who confines his son within all his likes and dislikes-to the extent of how he should eat his food-fixes up his marriage with a girl of his choice.
Inspite of his engagement, Siddu is firm in his policy that "my dad can decide anything for me except two-my career and my marriage". He meets Haasini, an amazing character who loves anything everything around her. They both fall in love much to the fury of Prakashraj.
Now Siddu has 3 major tasks:
1) Making his father accept Haasini
2) Break his engagement with the girl of his father's choice and
3) Making Haasini's father accept him(as he already has a bad impression on him)
The rest of the film deals with how Siddu successfully does all these three tasks. Though this sounds like a hero's film, the pivotal character surprisingly is Haasini and anyone will instantly fall in love with this character.
Performance wise, Siddarth does a very good job proving all his talents, and a special treat is the song "Appudo Ippudo" sung by Siddarth himself. He is just excellent. Prakashraj who normally does villainous roles is totally different in this film, where his character is a villain for others. Again an excellent performance. And all other actors are a very good supporting cast.
But the life of the film is Haasini aka Genelia who simply excels with an outstanding performance. Her innocent, cheerful and child-like character is so much believable, that it is too difficult to imagine any other actress in her role.
Major plus points in the film, camera work, editing and music by Devi Sri Prasad. Songs are simply outstanding, and never ever you will find the film boring while wathcing. Not even for a minute!!!
A final word: Remaking this film in any langauage is like killing a beautiful child and making any other actress enact Haasini's character is nothing but character assasination!!!
I now understand why this film got so many positive and rave reviews all over.. Hats off to the director Bhaskar!!!

"Enakku Venum"
Note: There is something peculiar or unusual about the railway ticket in the picture posted here. :P
Few weeks back, I went to Railway Reservation Counter for canceling a ticket. Normally, I take a pen with me whenever I go there or at least I will get a new one from shops nearby so that I need not beg for pens from others. That day, occupied in some thought I took a form and went straight to the line, when I realized I need a pen. Since it was a cancellation and just 2 minutes work, I thought I can borrow it from someone.
One idiot who looked like a cinema villain jumped into the queue in a single moment I left a space in front of me. I was not bothered and stayed quiet. I noticed he had a pen in his hand and was not using it as he had to look through the Train Timings chart before filling up the forms. I asked him politely, “Excuse me, pen please?” That fellow without even looking at my face shouted “Enakku venum!!!” and turned his face towards other side.
I stood for a moment not knowing how to react to him… It was so embarrassing, the way he reacted in front of so many people present there. I have lent pens to many people many times and even if they forget to return it back, I will not feel like going and asking them for it. So I never expected such a thing… This might not be a big insult or issue to keep in mind(after all, its a matter of 2 words he spoke.. :-D), but I wished I could let it out some where before forgetting it.. :-)
And may God bless that idiot with a brand new pen everyday for his lifetime and also the heart to lend it to others when they are in urgent need of it :P
P.S: Of course, there was a kind-hearted old man who helped me with a pen and gave a happy ending for my story :-D
P.S.2: The unusual thing about that railway ticket is that, it has a cost of "Rs.0" on it :-D
