Favourite subjects

Being an academics oriented guy, :P I had a lot of favourite subjects... Short recap of what were my favourites:

At the school level, Maths and Tamil were my most loved ones. May be because I had good teachers for both these subjects through out my school life. I usually score well in both these and many times have been appreciated by teachers for my writing. Special mention to my Tamil lecturer who kindled the Tamil spirit within me that I went to the extent of writing poems :-D

Biology was a later favourite, thanks to Ms.Mariam, who always made sure I never scored less than 90% :-D

Before leaving school, I got a great attachment with English which I owe to my English teacher. The least grammar knowledge that I have today is only because of her. She made me partcipate in many competitions and was like a mentor to me.

The biggest nightmares were Hitory, Civics and Geography. Howmuch ever I struggle, these were always out of my hands. How I managed with an 89% in my final board exams in Social Studies is still a miracle... :-o

At the college level it was again Mathematics in general and from my discipline I liked Digital Communication and Cellular Communication... Electronic Circuits was my nightmare here :P

Inspite of all these, today I kuppa kottify with Java, Unix and C++ which were Greek and Latin to me till 2 years back :-D

Once more Chennai !!!

I am back after my short trip to my dear Chennai for a couple of days. I really had a good recharge of my mind with visits to my relatives' places, chat with my dear cousins and of course travelling around my favourite Chennai.. A few highlight moments:

* I had a chance for small arguments with the autowallahs, travelling in MTC buses, smelling the stink of Cooum :-D and tasting my favourite Aavin milk khoa, which I missed all these days..

* I did good amount of local shopping especially the junk stuff which I pick up every time from Chennai.

* Nehru has generously moved away from Kathipara jn, Guindy to ease the construction of state of art fly over, that will take care of all traffic woes of Office goers in future.

* The loooooong term project of flyover construction near MIT Gate has almost been completed and I had a chance to travel over that in an MTC bus.. It looks really great!!!

* Bus stations in many places like Tambaram and Pallavaram have been provisioned with roofs. People are heaving a sigh of relief as they can escape to some extent from scorching sun and rains(if any)

Also I observed that my city is growing at jet speed to take over all industrial investments on its broad shoulders... Hats off Chennai!!!

Quit smoking... :X

I am a victim of smoking but I feel its impossible for me to quit smoking.

Yeah, when my auto driver, the localite at the theatre, my office colleague(though not directly, from terrace through some open window), my co-passenger in the express train, the pedestrian crossing me on a street and many more doesn't seem to be understanding the effects of smoking in public places, its impossible for me to quit passive smoking.

I can tolerate drunk people(though its a different case of a nightmare for me being next to them). But I hate and feel like trashing people who smoke in public places... Unless the law lays its hands severly on them, they are not gonna change :-(

Happy Pongal!!!

Pongal, the festival of Tamil Nadu being celebrated on 14th of January(Mostly) is one of my favourite festivals... Its the "Thanks Giving Day" ancestors of Tamil Nadu have started celebrating long back and it carries with it the tradition and culture of Tamilians.

I really love the traditional "Pongal paanai" setups and worship being made to all those entities, which are in a way responsible for making our life happy everyday. Also the delicacies associated - especially the special sweet Pongal my mom makes on the day... :-)

Wishing all a very happy Pongal and may this year bring you all prosperities...

English Gone Only... :-D

These are the few master pieces in English that I came across in past few days of my life in Bangalore:

* On a TNSTC bus from Chidambaram to Bangalore: From "Univercity" to "Electronic city" (Meaning Annamalai University)
* A girl in a BMTC bus: "Morning, morning I have to start from my house" (Kaalankaathala-yaam)
* In my office: "You can only do this" (Means, u can do it by urself)
* In a training session: "You got it na my point" (Did u get my point?)
* Outside a store: "All mobail phone, all modals servis and repar done here"(No comments) :-D

The little English that I know will also get spoilt in near future if I am going through all these on a day to day basis. :-)

Blue memoirs

Blue... The colour that makes me life, the colour that I love the most and the colour that I wish should be in every part and parcel of my life...

I don't know exactly, when I developed so much of liking towards blue. One day, I incidentally found out that more than half of my wardrobe was filled with attires in various shades of blue... Even now, I wear blue for most of the days - that makes me feel happy, confident and brings a smile on my face(Don't ask me how) :-)

My college buses, Bangalore mail and Brindavan Express, Tata Indicom ads, My CD pouch, My mom's saree for last Diwali - the list of blues that attracted me is endless... I learnt that I can even overcome the effect of Monday blues with my favourite blue dress... Such is the impact of the color on me!!!

P.S: And this is the reason why my blogspot changed to blue spot few days back :-D

Happy New Year....

May God bless us all with a bright, happy, prosperous and wonderful new year that is free from natural calamities, terrorist attacks, stampede deaths and careless accidents.

And let the number of corrupt politicians, useless TV channels, polluting vehicles and traffic jams decrease drastically...

Last but not the least, may IT industry be in its boom period for a longer time ;-)

WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR !!!
