The Music of Diwali

Wishing everyone a very Happy and Colorful Diwali!!!

Diwali in TamilNadu is usually not just a festival of lights, but also festival of light and sound. Thanks to the continuous trend of Diwali movie releases. This time we have around half a dozen movies compared to 3 last year, as there are no movies from superstars this time...

Coming to the topic, out of all new songs that I saw throughout the day, (Courtesy: Jobless Cable Channels) I would say the bestest in terms of visual experience was "Yammaadi Aaathadi" from Simbu's Vallavan. Knowing how good a dancer Simbu is and the glamourous screen presence of Reema Sen one cannot expect anything less.

But the surprise package was Nayanthara. It was really a delight to watch a totally slimmed down Nayanthara performing fast dance movements in a way no one could expect out of her.(Jollu jollu....) And wehn Simbu leans down and exclaims "Yemma!!!" pointing his hands to her hip, actually we too feel the same way... Nayanthara rocks!!! (Podhum jollu!!!)
So that was the visuals based topper. But the listening pleasure for me was "Ennadi Muniyamma un kannula mayyi" from Vaathiyaar... Heard these lines anywhere?? Yes egjactly, the remix version of the same old superhit song. Especially the brief transition in between to "Otha rooba thaaren", a similar tuned song is really good.

Sung by Karthik with Imman's remixed tunes and rap interludes from Blaaze, I would rate it as the most fresh number this Diwali, an unexpected one. Tamil folk rockz any day (Vallavan and Varalaaru songs are in rounds for a very long time and started sounding stale to me by this time, and other movies music-nothing noteworthy)
